THE UNIVERSITY OF THE THIRD AGE (U3A) is an organisation of mature citizens who want to keep their minds active, develop new skills and share their knowledge and experience with each other.

The Horsham U3A was formed in 1994 and the objectives contained in the Constitution are quoted as being:

  • To advance the education of the public and in particular the education of middle aged and older people who are not in full time gainful employment.
  • The provision of facilities for leisure time and recreational activities with the object of improving the conditions of life for the above persons in the interests of their social welfare.

What does it offer?

  • The opportunity to pursue learning for sheer enjoyment and for its own sake
  • Shared learning experiences in a wide range of interest groups
  • New friendships

There are over 90 groups, from Art Appreciation to Writing for Pleasure, with over 700 members. To join a group you must be a member of Horsham U3A.

In addition to the regular activity meetings, general meetings are held bi-monthly.

Individual views, opinions and statements expressed in correspondence, letters and other published material appearing on the Horsham U3A Website are not necessarily those held by the committee of Horsham U3A.
